Apple Delists Memecoin Trading Platform Pump Fun After Launching Custom Pairs
The memecoin trading platform Pump Fun faced another setback after Apple delisted its iPhone app in several countries, including the US and India. This decision came just one day after Pump Fun launched Custom Pairs, allowing users to create and trade tokenized stocks against memecoins.
The platform's social media account had earlier promised a 'memecoin supercycle that retires everyone reading this,' but its fortunes took a hit as the app disappeared from App Stores. While Pump Fun claimed that funds were safe for existing users, Apple's georestriction may be permanent.
This move follows several other crypto-related apps being removed by Apple in recent years, including Binance and Kraken due to anti-money-laundering failures. The UK had also banned Pump Fun last year after the Financial Conduct Authority warned that it operated without authorization.
