Apple Delists Pump Fun App Amid Memecoin Trading Controversy
Pump Fun's iPhone app was delisted from Apple's App Store in several countries on Thursday evening, just one day after the memecoin trading platform introduced Custom Pairs, allowing users to launch a memecoin quoted against tokenized stocks.
The move sparked a trending topic on social media as the app disappeared from US and Indian stores. In its last post before delisting, Pump Fun's social media account promised a 'memecoin supercycle that retires everyone reading this.'
Pump Fun had proudly promoted 93 asset pairs, including digital assets linked to publicly-traded US companies like Boeing, Costco, and Trump Media.
Apple hasn't commented on the delisting, but it may be permanent. Pump Fun can now only redirect users to its website or Google Play app, where the Android version remains available with over 500,000 downloads.
