Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Fake Bitcoin Wallet on App Store
Apple is facing a lawsuit after three cryptocurrency investors accused the company of allowing a fake Bitcoin wallet onto its App Store. The disputed app, which copied the identity of Sparrow Wallet, allegedly tricked users into revealing their sensitive wallet recovery phrases, leading to losses totaling $1.8 million.
The victims reportedly lost around $875,000, $840,000, and $120,000 between May and August 2025. The plaintiffs argue that Apple failed to properly screen and monitor applications distributed through its App Store, relying on users' trust in the company's reputation.
The case adds to growing concerns about crypto-related scams targeting trusted digital marketplaces. It also raises questions about how technology companies review applications before making them available to millions of users.
