Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Fake Crypto App in App Store

Share

Apple is facing a lawsuit over its App Store after three individuals lost $1.8 million to a fake cryptocurrency wallet app.

The plaintiffs claim they downloaded the fraudulent version of Sparrow Wallet between May and August 2025, when no iPhone version of the legitimate product existed at that time.

Craig Raw, the real developer behind Sparrow Wallet, had warned Apple as early as January 2024 about fake versions circulating in the App Store.

The scam allowed users to enter their cryptocurrency wallet recovery phrases, which gave the criminals access to their digital wallets and enabled them to steal funds.
