Apple Hit with $1.8M Lawsuit Over Fake Bitcoin Apps
Apple is facing a federal lawsuit after three users claimed they lost around $1.835 million in Bitcoin due to fake Sparrow Wallet applications distributed through its App Store.
The plaintiffs, James Ramirez, Christopher Ellis, and Jalen Delgado, filed the complaint on July 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. According to the lawsuit, Delgado downloaded a spoof application around May 1, 2025, and lost about $120,000, while Ramirez allegedly lost 7.4 BTC valued near $875,000 after using the app on July 25.
Ellis allegedly lost about $840,000 after using the app around August 3. Each user says the software requested a wallet seed phrase before transferring Bitcoin to attacker-controlled addresses.
