Apple Hit with Lawsuit Over Fake Bitcoin Wallet App
Apple is facing a lawsuit from three customers who claim they lost a combined $1.8 million after falling victim to a fake Bitcoin wallet app in the App Store.
The plaintiffs, James Ramirez, Christopher Ellis, and Jalen Delgado, had their Bitcoin amounts stolen via the Sparrow Wallet app between May and August 2025, with losses totaling approximately $875,000, $840,000, and $120,000 respectively.
According to the complaint, Apple failed to adequately review and monitor apps distributed through the App Store, despite marketing it as a 'safe and trusted place to discover and download apps.'
Craig Raw, the developer of Sparrow Wallet, had previously addressed Apple's slow response to fake versions of his app appearing in the App Store, stating that he had reported the issue weeks ago.
