Apple Removes Fake DefiLlama Apps After Months-Long Delay
DefiLlama's mobile app launch was delayed due to Apple's App Store listing fake applications impersonating the DeFi analytics platform. Founder 0xngmi said that DefiLlama tried to remove these listings for months, but only succeeded after demonstrating one of the apps could drain cryptocurrency funds.
The team created a test wallet and watched as the funds disappeared when they downloaded the fake app. 'App was taken down in days after that,' 0xngmi wrote on August 15th.
DefiLlama waited until all the fake apps were removed before launching its mobile product to avoid any user getting scammed. The company's official iPhone app is now live, with Apple listing DEFILLAMA LIMITED as its provider.
