Apple Sued for $1.8M Over Failed Protection from Fake Crypto App

A trio of plaintiffs are suing Apple for $1.8 million in damages after they lost their Bitcoin savings to a fake app hosted on the App Store.

The app, Sparrow Wallet, was designed to look like the legitimate version available on desktop platforms, but instead tricked users into handing over control of their assets, which were then stolen.

James Ramirez claimed to have lost approximately $875,000 in digital assets, while Christopher Ellis and Jalen Delgado lost around $840,000 and $120,000 respectively.

The plaintiffs believe Apple failed to adequately protect them from the scam app, and that they wouldn't have purchased Apple's hardware or bought apps if they had admitted their security claims were misleading or false.
