Apple Sued for $1.8M Over Fake Crypto Wallet on App Store
Apple is facing a lawsuit from three victims who lost over $1.8 million due to a fake crypto wallet, Sparrow Bitcoin, on its App Store.
The plaintiffs claimed that Apple failed to warn consumers about spoofed wallet apps and didn't flag the iOS-based Sparrow Wallet as a fake despite receiving reports of the same.
The original Sparrow Wallet is only available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, but scammers created a fake version for iOS to dupe users into handing over control of their crypto funds.
The trio lost a combined $1.8 million between May and August last year, with one user losing $875,000 alone.
