Apple Sued Over $1.8 Million in Fake Crypto Wallet Losses
Apple is facing a lawsuit alleging negligence in its App Store review process after three users lost over $1.8 million through a fake cryptocurrency wallet application.
The plaintiffs claim they trusted the Sparrow Wallet app, listed on Apple's App Store, because of its presence and believed it was connected to the legitimate Bitcoin wallet service.
However, the application turned out to be fraudulent, and users allegedly lost their cryptocurrency funds. James Ramirez reportedly lost around $875,000, Christopher Ellis lost approximately $840,000, while Jalen Delgado lost around $120,000.
The plaintiffs argue that Apple failed to apply adequate security measures to prevent the fake Sparrow Wallet app from reaching users and that its exclusive control over app distribution makes users heavily dependent on the company's promises of safety and reliability.
