Apple Sues OpenAI for Trade Secret Misappropriation Amidst AI Hardware Ambitions

Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the ChatGPT developer of trade secret misappropriation. The suit claims that former Apple employees who now work at OpenAI have brought confidential information with them.

The complaint alleges that over 400 Apple engineers have joined OpenAI, including some who worked on Apple chips and on-device AI. OpenAI has responded by calling the lawsuit retaliatory, saying it's an attempt to hinder their AI hardware ambitions, particularly in collaboration with Jony Ive.
