Apple Surpasses $5 Trillion Market Cap, Outpacing Crypto Market
Apple has reached a market capitalization of over $5 trillion for the first time, making it one of only two companies to have achieved this milestone. The tech giant's shares briefly crossed above $340 per share on July 28, surpassing the five-comma club and dwarfing the entire cryptocurrency market.
Nvidia was the first company to reach this level, with Apple becoming the runner-up in what has become a high-stakes competition. The two companies are currently neck and neck, with prediction markets giving Nvidia a 48.5% chance of reclaiming the top spot by month's end.
Apple's path to $5 trillion was not sudden, having previously cleared the $3 trillion, $4 trillion, and $4.5 trillion milestones in succession. Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency market has struggled to keep pace, with its total market cap peaking at over $4.1 trillion in August 2025.
The fact that Apple's valuation is now greater than the entire crypto ecosystem is a testament to the vast wealth generated by the tech industry. As the competition between Nvidia and Apple continues, investors will be watching closely to see which company will emerge victorious.
