Aptos Pours $50M into AI Agent Infrastructure Development
Aptos has committed $50 million to developing AI agent infrastructure and research. The investment targets two products that shipped last year, Decibel and Shelby. Decibel is an AI-powered on-chain order book and perpetuals exchange, while Shelby is a decentralized storage protocol for handling AI agent workloads.
The foundation believes autonomous agents can execute transactions faster than humans and require infrastructure with sub-second finality and continuous operation without human oversight. The investment will also be used to integrate Aptos with neobanks, institutional platforms, and wallet providers.
Aptos has also rolled out Confidential APT on its mainnet, a privacy-focused token designed to conceal balances and transfer amounts. This feature could help businesses protect on-chain salary payments and treasury movements from public visibility.
