Aptos Unveils Confidential APT, Bringing Financial Privacy to Its Mainnet
Aptos has launched Confidential APT on its mainnet, a feature that encrypts user balances and transaction amounts using zero-knowledge proofs.
The layer-1 blockchain positions this tool as a solution for compliance-sensitive use cases, such as payroll, treasury management, and intercompany settlements, where publicly exposing payment or salary amounts can pose an operational or competitive problem.
Confidential APT is entirely optional, allowing users to choose whether or not to encrypt their balances and transaction amounts. Wallet addresses remain visible on the network, but the amounts are hidden using zero-knowledge proofs that verify every transaction is valid.
