Aptos Unveils Confidential Transactions on Mainnet
Aptos has rolled out Confidential APT on its mainnet, giving users the ability to encrypt their token balances and transfer amounts without hiding who's transacting. This feature is designed for compliance-heavy use cases such as payroll processing, corporate treasury management, and business-to-business settlements.
The Confidential APT feature uses zero-knowledge proofs and homomorphic encryption to verify transactions while keeping actual numbers private. Only the native APT token is eligible for confidential transactions at launch, but the underlying standard was built to extend to other tokens pending future governance votes.
Aptos itself has been building momentum on the infrastructure side. The mainnet originally launched in October 2022, and by April 2026, daily transaction volumes had surpassed 8 million.
