Arbitrum Aims for Faster Withdrawals with Zero-Knowledge Proof Integration

Arbitrum is working on integrating zero-knowledge proofs into its BoLD settlement protocol to reduce withdrawal times from seven days to just a few hours. This integration would combine ZK fast confirmations with Arbitrum's existing dispute architecture, preserving optimistic fraud proofs.

The proposed model is significant because it doesn't replace one proving system with another, but rather offers a hybrid approach that can support different trade-offs. ZK proofs can speed up verification, while optimistic mechanisms remain part of the dispute framework.

BoLD is Arbitrum's dispute and settlement framework, and integrating ZK proofs into it would affect how the network confirms and settles state back to Ethereum. If successful, this integration could improve withdrawal speed without abandoning the system's optimistic roots.
