Arbitrum's Elara Upgrade Activated: Compliance Filtering and Expanded Contract Capacity
Arbitrum has rolled out its Elara upgrade across Arbitrum One and Nova on August 20 at 17:00 UTC, marking a significant milestone in the platform's development.
The upgrade introduces several key features, including protocol-level compliance filtering, customizable priority fees, and an alternative data availability interface for dedicated chains.
Compliance filtering is now baked directly into the node software as an optional feature, allowing chain owners to configure it according to their needs. This feature screens transactions at two separate points: inside the sequencer and during state transitions.
The Stylus contract size cap has been increased by a factor of four, from 24 KB to 96 KB, giving game developers more room for complex logic in their contracts.
Additionally, multidimensional gas pricing is now available on Arbitrum One and Nova, along with a new BaseFeeManager contract that allows Offchain Labs to adjust the minimum L2 base fee within a specific band.
