Argentina Proposes Bill to Integrate Digital Assets into Financial Markets
Argentina is set to overhaul its financial market rules with a sweeping deregulation bill that puts digital assets and decentralized technologies at its forefront. The proposed bill, led by Deregulation Minister Federico Sturzenegger, would allow investment funds to invest in digital assets, provided they align with the fund's investment policy.
This move is expected to unlock billions of dollars in potential demand for digital assets, according to early estimates. Investment funds will be able to buy and hold digital assets such as Bitcoin, subject to regulations approved by the CNV (Comisión Nacional de Valores).
The bill also approves the tokenization of all negotiable securities, enabling faster and cheaper stock market operations using decentralized technologies. This includes the issuance, custody, transfer, and sale of these assets on blockchain platforms.
