Argentina Pushes Blockchain-Based Capital Market Reforms
Argentina is pushing forward with sweeping capital market reforms that would integrate digital assets and blockchain technology into the country's financial system.
The draft legislation, currently in its early stages, aims to modernise financial regulation and expand the use of decentralised technologies. One key aspect of the proposal is the legal recognition of tokenised securities, which would enable their issuance, custody, transfer, and trading through blockchain-based systems.
The bill also recognises digital assets such as Bitcoin as eligible collateral for loans, potentially expanding access to credit for investors with significant cryptocurrency holdings. Smart contracts would receive full legal recognition, allowing agreements like leases and mortgages to be executed and enforced automatically through blockchain technology.
