Argentina's Stablecoin Adoption Surges to New Heights
Stablecoins are gaining popularity in Argentina as people use them for everyday payments and transactions. According to Bitget Wallet, stablecoin transfers have grown by over 700% since last year, with an average balance higher than other Latin American markets.
Federico García Ferrando, Latam growth regional manager of Bitget Wallet, attributes this growth to users actively transacting with stablecoins rather than just using them as a savings tool. He notes that the 'infrastructure maturing around stablecoins' is making them a practical and everyday payment layer.
Julián Colombo, director of Bitso for South America, states that 71% of cryptocurrencies acquired in Argentina were stablecoins in 2025, with USDT being the most popular. However, he notes that Argentines prefer to hold Bitcoin as a long-term store of value rather than stablecoins.
The use of digital dollars is also becoming more prevalent in everyday transactions. Lemon platform reports that their volume operated with stablecoins increased by 45% year-on-year, driven mainly by their use for payments and connecting different financial systems.
