Argentine Banks Take Step Towards Issuing Peso Stablecoins

Share

Argentina's banking sector is taking steps to develop peso stablecoins for institutional payments. The projects are being advanced through separate virtual asset subsidiaries, as banks remain barred from offering crypto services directly.

BIND Group and Petersen Group are the two financial holding groups leading the initiatives. BIND Group's BEN subsidiary will issue a peso-backed stablecoin, while Petersen Group's DIPE project has already published a whitepaper.

The digital pesos aim to support programmable payment conditions, collateral management, and treasury settlement using blockchain infrastructure. Institutional customers can use these tokens for automating transactions, managing lending arrangements, and streamlining treasury operations.
