Arizona Crypto ATM Law Returns Half-Million to Scam Victims
Arizona's crypto ATM consumer protection law is yielding tangible results less than a year after taking effect. The Arizona Attorney General's Office announced that 35 victims of cryptocurrency ATM scams have recovered full refunds totaling $171,332.
The refunds were made possible through Arizona's Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law, which became effective on September 26, 2025. Under the new law, crypto ATM or kiosk operators are required to provide instant refunds and refund carried fees if the customer reports any fraudulent transactions within 30 days of the transaction.
The authorities stress that it is vital for victims to report scams on time, as those who miss the deadline may not be eligible for reimbursement even if it's proven later that they were scammed. To address concerns, victims should contact either the Attorney General's Office or local law enforcement first to file a complaint in advance of the deadline.
