Arizona Crypto ATM Refund Program Recovers $171K for Scam Victims
Arizona's Crypto ATM Refund Program has helped 35 victims of cryptocurrency scams recover $171,332 in losses. The refunds were made possible through Arizona's Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law, which became effective on September 26, 2025.
The law requires crypto kiosk operators to provide immediate full refunds and reimbursement for fees if the customer reports any fraudulent transactions within 30 days of the transaction.
Attorney General Kris Mayes said the refunds were made possible through Arizona's Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law, which became effective on September 26, 2025. The authorities stress that it is vitally important to get the timing right, as victims might not be eligible for reimbursement unless they report on time, even if it is proven later that it was fraud.
The Attorney General's Office urged victims to maintain receipts from the transactions and record details including dates and a description of how the scammers were contacted. They also reiterated a warning that all legitimate businesses and government agencies do not demand cryptocurrency ATM payments.
