Arizona Crypto ATM Scam Victims Get Full Refunds Under New State Law

Arizona residents who fell victim to cryptocurrency ATM scams have been given full refunds under a state law designed to combat fraud. Since the Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law took effect in September 2025, the Arizona Attorney General's Office has helped 35 victims recover $171,332 from fraudulent transactions.

The law requires that victims report scams within 30 days of the transaction to qualify for reimbursement. If a victim reports fraud outside this timeframe, they may not be eligible for a refund. To initiate the refund process, victims must file complaints with either the Attorney General's Office or local law enforcement.

Attorney General Kris Mayes warned that cryptocurrency kiosk and ATM operators are now required to provide complete refunds, including all associated fees, to customers who report fraud within the 30-day timeframe. She also emphasized that legitimate businesses and government agencies never request payment through cryptocurrency.
