Arizona Refund Law Brings Back $171,332 for Crypto ATM Scam Victims
Arizona has seen significant relief for crypto ATM scam victims, thanks to its new law that requires operators to provide refunds to customers who have been fraudulently induced. According to Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, the state helped 35 victims recover a total of $171,332 in full refunds.
The law, which went into effect on September 26, 2025, caps new customers at $2,000 daily across one operator's kiosks and existing customers can transact up to $10,500 each day. Operators must also provide 24-hour customer service, issue receipts, and use blockchain analytics and tracing tools.
The law allows qualifying new customers to receive a full refund, including fees, after a fraudulently induced transaction. To be eligible for a refund, the customer must contact the operator and law enforcement or the Attorney General's Office within 30 days and provide a report finding that fraud induced the transaction.
Mayes urged victims to report suspected fraud immediately because missing the deadline can end refund eligibility.
