ARK Invest Dumps $26M on Palantir, Bets Big on Rocket Lab and Block
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest has made significant purchases of Rocket Lab and Block, totaling $82 million. This move is part of a larger shift in the fund's strategy, with Wood betting on companies that have major execution catalysts ahead. The buying comes after Rocket Lab fell 58% from its May high, while Block shares weakened despite recent financial reports.
Rocket Lab's appeal lies in its cheaper alternative to SpaceX launches, with the company securing $437 million in additional launch contracts. Its Neutron rocket is a key catalyst for growth, targeting delivery to the launch pad by 2026. Meanwhile, Block combines Square, Cash App, and other Bitcoin-related businesses, giving ARK exposure to digital payments and crypto infrastructure.
This purchase marks a reversal from earlier periods when ARK had trimmed Block shares in favor of Circle and other crypto-linked names. The fund's willingness to rotate aggressively within the fintech sector suggests Wood is opportunistic and willing to take calculated risks.
