Ark Invest Scoops Up Coinbase Shares Amid Post-Earnings Slump
Ark Invest, led by Cathie Wood, seized on Coinbase's post-earnings drop to buy up shares of the exchange. On Monday, August 4, Ark Invest purchased 54,776 Coinbase shares worth around $8 million. This acquisition was distributed across three of its exchange-traded funds: 38,761 shares for ARKK, 11,133 shares for ARKW, and 4,882 shares for ARKF.
The purchase came after Coinbase's second-quarter results caused its shares to fall more than 14%. Ark Invest's investment strategy involves constant rebalancing of its funds based on the performance of each asset. As a result, no single position can make up more than 10% of a fund's portfolio.
Coinbase is now the sixth-largest holding within ARKK, with a weighting of 4.2%. Ark Invest also acquired 23,070 additional shares of Circle for approximately $1.4 million on the same day. However, it shed 5,700 shares of Solmate Infrastructure, which has seen its price collapse 99% from its September peak.
