ARK Invest Sells Semiconductors, Buys Bullish and Cerebras Systems
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest made significant changes to its actively managed exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on consecutive days, May 23 and 24. The firm sold large positions in two semiconductor giants, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), while buying into crypto exchange Bullish (BLSH).
On the sell side, ARK reduced its stake in TSM by 2,131 shares from the ARKW fund, representing 0.05% of the total holdings. Similarly, it sold 1,859 shares of AMD from ARKW, also accounting for 0.05%. These transactions come as both companies continue to battle for dominance in the AI accelerator market.
On the buy side, ARK Invest aggressively purchased Bullish shares across its three ETFs: ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF. The firm bought more than 164,000 shares of BLSH over two days, with a significant portion going into ARKK, its flagship fund. This move reinforces Wood's long-standing thesis on digital asset infrastructure and exchanges.
ARK also began a new position in Cerebras Systems (CBRS), the wafer-scale AI chip maker that recently went public. The firm bought 38,646 shares of CBRS for ARKK and an additional 3,480 shares for ARKW, marking one of its first major bets on an Nvidia rival.
In another significant transaction, ARK raised its stake in Twist Bioscience (TWST) by buying 105,810 shares in ARKK, the largest single-stock purchase over the past two days. This move highlights Wood's continued interest in the biotechnology sector.
