Armstrong Argues Crypto Has Unlocked Global Financial Access
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes that cryptocurrencies have unlocked significant financial access for people around the world, particularly through stablecoins. These digital currencies are pegged to the value of traditional fiat currency and can be sent quickly and easily, often at a lower cost than traditional bank transfers.
Armstrong pointed out that stablecoins, such as Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), have made it possible for anyone to access a low-inflation currency. He also noted the growth of DeFi applications, which are decentralized finance platforms that provide financial services to unbanked individuals.
The tokenization of stocks is another area where Armstrong sees significant potential. This process allows companies to issue digital tokens on a blockchain, making it easier for investors to buy and sell shares without going through traditional brokers.
