Armstrong: Cryptocurrencies Key to Global Financial Inclusion

Share

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is pushing back against the notion that the cryptocurrency industry's contributions to global financial inclusion are being overlooked.

Armstrong highlighted the impact of stablecoins, which have effectively brought the U.S. dollar on-chain, allowing anyone to hold a currency with lower inflation potential and transfer funds at any time for a fraction of a cent.

The Coinbase chief also pointed to decentralized finance (DeFi) as a tool that opens up credit markets to individuals who might otherwise be excluded. Additionally, he mentioned that tokenized stocks could enable the four billion people worldwide without brokerage accounts to invest in U.S. equities.
