Armstrong Sees Bitcoin Reaching $400k Amid Regulatory Clarity

Coinbase Global CEO Brian Armstrong believes Bitcoin can reach $400,000 by the end of 2030. To achieve this goal, Bitcoin would need to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51% over the next four years.

This is not entirely out of question, given how fast Bitcoin has grown in the past decade - its CAGR from August 2017 to July 2026 was 33.6%. Armstrong considers $400,000 a 'reasonable target' based on historical growth rates.

However, a more likely target might be $250,000, assuming a 34% CAGR, which is closer to Bitcoin's historical growth rate.

Armstrong identifies two major factors that could drive the extraordinary growth needed for Bitcoin to reach $400,000: newfound regulatory clarity and the mainstreaming of the 'Bitcoin is digital gold' investment thesis. Regulatory clarity would accelerate innovation in the digital asset space, make it easier for institutions to hold Bitcoin, and unlock sidelined capital.
