Armstrong's Reckless Gambit: Coinbase CEO Touts Pro-Trump Agenda Amidst California Threats
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has made headlines for his outspoken views on politics and regulation. In an appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast, he criticized California's plan to tax billionaires as 'unconstitutional asset seizure' and claimed that AI doesn't need regulation. This isn't the first time Coinbase has threatened to leave California; in 2021, Armstrong stated it would be closing its San Francisco offices for good.
However, the company recently signed a four-year lease on 150,000 square feet of San Francisco office space in 2025. Armstrong's decision to appear on Miller's podcast, which has only 2,000 viewers, is seen as an attempt to ingratiate himself with the Trump administration.
Armstrong donated to the destruction of the White House East Wing and supported a poorly thought-out military parade in June. He also listed Trump's memecoin on Coinbase and supported any crypto-related legislation put forth by the president.
