Arthur Hayes Adds $1.2M in Ether.fi Governance Tokens
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has made a significant investment in Ether.fi's governance token, $ETHFI. According to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, Hayes purchased approximately 1.9 million $ETHFI tokens for around $1.17 million just four hours ago.
This recent purchase is notable because it marks a change from Hayes' previous trading pattern. Just four months ago, he sold 265,461 $ETHFI at a loss, with the tokens valued at $0.44 each, totaling about $118,000.
The move comes amid a broader recovery in the DeFi sector, where governance tokens like $ETHFI have seen renewed interest. The Ether.fi protocol is a liquid staking platform that allows users to stake Ethereum while maintaining liquidity. Hayes' purchase could signal confidence in the protocol's long-term prospects as the Ethereum ecosystem continues to evolve.
Hayes is a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency industry, having co-founded BitMEX. His trading activities are closely monitored by the crypto community, and his positions can influence market sentiment. The recent activity surrounding $ETHFI has attracted attention from other investors, potentially due to Hayes' involvement with the token.
