Arthur Hayes Unveils FLOP Network Design for Verifiable AI Inference
Arthur Hayes has detailed the design for FLOP Network, a proposed blockchain aimed at verifiable AI inference. In a recent post, Hayes provided a fuller outline of the project, which moves beyond his initial brief description in August.
The draft proposal outlines how artificial-intelligence agents would buy inference with FLOP tokens and pay miners for their work. A miner would accept the request, run the inference, and return a proof, which validators would then place in a block. The miner receives the session payment and part of the block reward.
The proposal also includes staking requirements for miners and validators, with dishonest behavior triggering slashing penalties. This allows holders to delegate their stake and receive a proportional share of rewards. The project aims for one-second average blocks and caps the validator set at 1,000, with roughly 50 expected to rotate monthly.
