Asia-Pacific Leads Global Crypto Growth as North America Shifts Toward Institutional Role
Crypto adoption is growing rapidly across the globe in 2026, but users' motivations differ greatly between regions. The Asia-Pacific region leads global crypto growth, driven by expanding adoption across major regional markets.
The value received in on-chain cryptocurrency transactions in Asia-Pacific increased by 69% last year, with the amount of crypto transactions surging from $1.4 trillion to $2.36 trillion. India ranks first in the 2025 Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index, followed by the United States and Pakistan.
In contrast, North America is strengthening institutional participation through spot bitcoin ETFs, regulatory clarity, and increased involvement from traditional financial institutions. Latin America's adoption of crypto is increasingly tied to practical use cases, including remittances and everyday payments.
