Asia's Ultra-Wealthy Investors Flock to Digital Assets and Gold
Ultra-wealthy investors in Asia are increasingly combining traditional assets like gold and real estate with investments in digital assets and cryptocurrencies, according to Maybank Singapore CEO Alvin Lee. This trend is driven by younger generations who are more open to new asset classes.
Lee pointed out that the rise in gold prices is evidence of its role as a store of value, with an ounce of gold currently worth around $4,400. Goldman Sachs projects that the metal's price could reach $4,900 per ounce by the end of the year due to central bank purchases.
Singapore remains attractive for offshore capital, Lee said, citing its status as a safe haven, stable government, and tax jurisdiction. Historically large volumes of physical gold are being transported from Dubai to Singapore, further solidifying the city-state's appeal.
