Aster Buyback Falls Short as Token Price Stuck Near $0.61
Aster's token buyback program has removed millions of ASTER tokens from circulation since late June, but so far, it hasn't had a significant impact on the token's price. The protocol has repurchased approximately 5.3 million ASTER tokens and burned an equal number from its reserves.
The total amount represents only about 0.2% of the 2.7 billion circulating supply. Despite reducing ongoing emissions under its updated tokenomics, only around 34% of its maximum eight-billion-token supply is currently in circulation.
Market data suggests limited buying momentum, with ASTER trading near $0.61 on Coinbase and remaining roughly 8% below the anchored volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of $0.664. The Chaikin Money Flow indicator stood at -0.08, indicating selling pressure has continued to outweigh buying activity.
