Aster, a decentralized exchange (DEX), has launched its Aster Open Standards Phase 2 (AOS-2) framework for perpetual markets. This move expands on the company's existing spot listing protocol and brings permissionless trading to derivatives.

AOS-2 allows approved initiatives to list perpetual futures markets without private negotiation, aligning with the trend of community-curated markets seen in Uniswap and Hyperliquid. The new framework requires a 1 million ASTER token lockup for four years, serving as an anti-spam filter and ensuring long-term commitment from applicants.

The company reserves the right to control leverage margin funding rates and liquidation parameters to mitigate systemic risk. AOS-2 is considered a significant step in decentralizing perpetual exchanges while maintaining neutrality.
