Atkins Sees Clarity for Crypto with Senate Vote Looming
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins expressed optimism about the prospects of the CLARITY Act advancing in the Senate. He stated that he expects and hopes for a vote on September 15, which requires 60 senators to approve further debate.
The legislation aims to provide more explicit regulations for the cryptocurrency market in the United States, with the goal of transforming America into a top digital asset hub, as per President Donald Trump's vision. Atkins emphasized that this would stimulate domestic operations and entrepreneurship under US law.
Atkins also mentioned that regulators could take action using current securities laws if the bill is not passed by Congress. However, he believes that the CLARITY Act offers a more sustainable basis for market regulation and entrepreneurship.
