AUD Jumps Against JPY as Strong CPI Data Boosts Australian Dollar
The Australian Dollar has strengthened against the Japanese Yen for the second consecutive day, trading around 114.20 during Asian hours on Wednesday.
This comes after the release of Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which showed a 3.5% year-over-year increase in July, beating the forecasted 3.2% growth and surpassing June's 3.8% rise.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that Australia's monthly CPI rose 1.0% in July, up from a 0.1% decrease, while the Trimmed Mean CPI increased 0.5% month-over-month and 3.6% year-over-year during the same period.
Strategists at Scotiabank highlight that the Bank of Japan's tone beyond its September meeting will be crucial in determining the Yen's future performance, as investors are increasingly looking past the single event itself.
