August Altcoin Spotlight: Solana, Bittensor, Cardano, and More
The cryptocurrency market is expected to see significant activity in August due to upcoming blockchain upgrades, ETF developments, and product launches. According to one analyst, several altcoins are poised for growth as a result.
Solana tops the list with its major network upgrade scheduled for this month. The Agave 4.2 client will bring faster block times, reduced rent costs, larger transaction sizes, and higher block capacity. Solana is also testing Alpenglow, a new consensus system targeting transaction finality of around 150 milliseconds.
However, on-chain analyst Ali Martinez reported that the number of wallets holding at least 0.1 SOL has dropped 5% over the past two weeks, signaling weaker participation from smaller Solana holders.
Other altcoins expected to see significant growth in August include Bittensor (TAO), Cardano, Stacks, and Avantis. Bittensor is gaining institutional interest due to its decentralized AI focus, with both Grayscale and Bitwise filing for ETF approval under SEC review. Cardano is approaching a key regulatory milestone as CME futures launched six months ago, allowing exchanges to pursue a spot ADA ETF.
Stacks will launch its Genesis Bond later this month, enabling users to earn Bitcoin-denominated rewards while maintaining self-custody of their BTC. Avantis Version 2 launches on August 12, expanding toward more than 500 real-world assets.
