August Losing Streak Ends as Bitcoin Rises on Institutional Demand

Bitcoin's August losing streak may be coming to an end as institutional investors continue to build exposure. According to CoinGlass data, Bitcoin has averaged losses of nearly 10% in August since 2022.

This year is different, however, with Bitcoin up more than 2% so far in August. A closer look at the on-chain metric shows that capital inflows are not yet being led by Bitcoin, as its dominance remains below the key 60% resistance level.

But there are signs of a shift in momentum. Ethereum's dominance has rallied 11%, its strongest monthly gain since August 2025, but this momentum hasn't carried over to August. BTC.D has started moving higher, suggesting that investors are positioning back into Bitcoin.

The recent influx of $381 million into Bitcoin ETFs is also a significant development, which could support Bitcoin's price if institutional inflows remain strong throughout the month. This trend holds that this rally is being driven by steady institutional demand rather than short-term speculation.
