August Weakness Looms Large Over Bitcoin's Price
Bitcoin's entry into August is marked by historically weak seasonal patterns and ongoing institutional outflows. The cryptocurrency has hovered around $62,823 to $63,085 on August 1, down from $64,723.97 the prior day after the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on July 30.
According to crypto analyst Ali Martinez's analysis of Bitcoin's four-year August decline pattern, the cryptocurrency averages a 10% decline during this month. The pattern has consistently held across recent years: BTC fell 13.88% in August 2022, 11.29% in August 2023, 8.60% in August 2024, and 6.49% in August 2025.
The market environment entering August is already fragile, with spot Bitcoin ETFs recording consecutive weeks of net outflows. In June 2026, these ETFs saw a record monthly outflow of $4.5 billion across all US spot Bitcoin ETFs, according to CoinDesk.
