Aurora Brings Bitcoin Payments to Global Anime Fans

Japan Bitcoin Industry Co., Ltd. (JBI) has launched Aurora, a self-custodial Bitcoin payments platform aimed at helping Japanese content producers reach global fans.

The platform targets international buyers of Japanese anime, manga, and games who face payment challenges due to cross-border restrictions and complexity.

Aurora enables customers outside Japan to pay with Bitcoin through the Lightning Network, an off-chain scaling solution allowing fast and low-cost transactions.

JBI emphasized that Aurora's design ensures the company itself never holds client funds. Merchants run their own self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning nodes, receiving payments directly from overseas customers.
