Australia's financial intelligence regulator AUSTRAC has canceled the registration of cryptocurrency provider GetCoins, a decision linked to disruption of alleged investment scams. The cancellation was made in June 2026, three months before the September announcement.

GetCoins was allegedly exploited by organized cryptocurrency investment scams, according to AUSTRAC. The regulator worked with the National Anti-Scam Centre on the case following customer complaints and requested information about GetCoins' operations to assess its ability to manage money laundering risks.

AUSTRAC said its work with the anti-scam center and the cancellation helped disrupt organized investment scam activity, but no amount was recovered for customers or a criminal finding made against the provider.
