Australian Brewery Taps Bitcoin Miners for Heat and Profits

Hawkesbury Brewing Co in Australia has implemented an innovative approach to brewing beer while reducing its carbon footprint. The brewery uses waste heat from 16 Bitcoin miners submerged in liquid to meet all its hot water needs for brewing and cleaning, producing 100,000 liters of beer monthly.

The system runs on excess solar power, ensuring a net-zero carbon footprint. In addition to reducing emissions, the brewery generates about $2,000 in monthly Bitcoin rewards that nearly cover electricity costs.

This approach turns surplus solar energy into crypto income and heat for beer production, offering a model for energy efficiency in other industries. However, Bitcoin price volatility poses a financial risk, making crypto rewards a bonus rather than the main benefit.
