Avalanche Soars as Bitcoin and Ethereum Edge Lower
Cryptocurrency markets opened the morning session in mixed fashion, but one altcoin managed to buck the trend.
Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, posted negligible declines of 0.04% and 0.16%, respectively. Bitcoin's price fell to $62,953.73, while Ethereum slipped to $1,877.40.
The altcoin that stood out from the crowd was Avalanche, which climbed 1.56% to $6.57, providing a welcome contrast to the subdued tone elsewhere in the market.
Other notable movers included BNB, which rose 0.54% to $610.85, and XRP, which inched higher by 0.36% to reach the psychologically significant $1.00 level.
