Avalanche's AVAX One Loss Masks Staking Growth
Avalanche's AVAX One reported a $35.1 million quarterly loss in the second quarter, but according to interim CEO Pete Wylie, this figure is misleading.
The loss was largely due to non-cash charges of $33 million, mostly from unrealized markdowns based on current prices for the AVAX tokens held by the company.
Removing these non-cash items, the adjusted net loss was $2.2 million for the quarter.
The staking business contributed $2.1 million to revenue, while Bitcoin mining added approximately $700,000. Wylie emphasized that despite the reported loss, staking rewards continue to accrue in AVAX tokens and their value will increase if the token price rebounds.
