Avalanche's Real-World Asset Adoption Gains Momentum with Kenya Records and Tokenized Stocks
Avalanche's blockchain is expanding its reach into real-world assets beyond DeFi apps. Two recent announcements show how governments and financial firms are using it for practical jobs.
In Kenya, the National Examinations Council has moved over 15 million academic records onto Avalanche's C-Chain, enabling instant credential verification for employers. The rollout includes records dating back to 1989, with plans to expand to 35 million. Verification is powered by Merkle-tree proofs, keeping full personal data off the public chain.
This deployment aims to combat certificate fraud in Kenya, allowing institutions to verify a certificate in seconds instead of waiting weeks for manual confirmation. It's one of the largest credential verification systems of its kind on the continent.
Meanwhile, Dinari has launched tokenized stocks on Avalanche C-Chain, giving US investors and businesses access to 724 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, including the entire S&P 500. Investors can trade dShares directly from a self-custody wallet, funded with USDC.
Both projects demonstrate how blockchain technology can support public services at scale and bring traditional finance closer to crypto wallets.
