AVAV Soars on Trump's Tariff Plan for Foreign Drones
AeroVironment's (AVAV) shares surged 3.3% in premarket trading to $195.69 after the Trump administration announced a 100% tariff on foreign military-grade and heavy drones, effective September 3, 2026.
The tariffs also include 25% levies on smaller commercial units. Under the policy framework, American manufacturers can seek temporary tariff relief if they commit to establishing U.S. production facilities by January 2029.
AeroVironment, a current U.S.-based manufacturer, stands to gain substantially from this carveout. The company's impressive quarterly performance, with revenue reaching $641.62 million and earnings per share of $1.84, exceeded analyst expectations.
